Meet Makisha

Behind every portrait session is a photographer who genuinely cares about your family’s story.

My name is Makisha Tilmouth. I am a local Alice Springs woman born and bred. My journey in photography began 12 months ago, when I commenced a photography course and received my first camera. I completed the course recently and have developed a strong love and passion for the art of photography. 

The interest in photography was born from a desire to start living life my way, doing the things I’ve aways wanted to do, being creative and finding my happiness in life. Majority of my life I have struggled with mental health issues, then almost two years ago at 41 years of age, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Surgery, chemo, radiotherapy, now HRT medication and adjuvant therapies. In remission, I am now in my self-care era. Life is worth living, my kids and my beautiful family are my biggest love and supports.

Photography has given me a positive outlet. There’s something about understanding the manual camera settings, adjusting the settings, finding the perfect light, shades, tones, practicing and implementing composition techniques and capturing moments that captivates me and fulfills my soul.
